Vtech DigiGo Review

Vtech DigiGo Review

I was recently given the amazing news that I was to be one of VTech’s DigiGo Ambassadors. Vtech is a great brand and I am excited to be sharing a review with you of the new Vtech DigiGoThe handheld smart device for kids!

This super cool smart device is aimed at children aged 3-7 years, it has a 4.3in touchscreen and it includes 10 apps, tools & media players and also 2 free apps to download from the Learning Lodge. This pocket-sized device allows your child to be able to send & receive texts to family & friends {Safely & via approved smartphones with a downloadable app – Kids Connect} and that’s just the beginning.

Setting it up I found pretty straight forward and in no time at all my son and I was sending texts to one another. That’s right…sending texts! Isn’t that amazing? Jacob can even choose his own ringtone too!

The DigiGo can connect to your wireless connection to allow it to send & receive text and/or voice messages. The DigiGo can also send photos and drawings too! The photos can be captured using its 2.0MP camera with a rotating lens {we found this particularly cool!} as it can rotate from front to back.

If you’re worried about space on this device {especially if you have to snap happy kid or a future vlogger!} it already comes with 4GB of memory and you can also pick up a micro SD card to expand that memory further.

The 1 pre-loaded game available on the DigiGo is called Roll Bird Roll and is quite a fun game to play with a learning angle of directions involved.

With your two free downloads {available following registration}, there is a great range of learning games to choose from for all age ranges. I chose to math-related learning games for Jacob; Galaxy Racing and Mad Dash Maths, as I feel Maths is taught better through fun & play. Plus, when you {the Parent} logs on to the Learning Lodge you can check on your child’s progress.

Through the DigiGo’s Multiplayer section, you can even watch videos or listen to music. It really is a cool device and really perfect for children who are just too young to have an actual phone themselves. This could not have come at a better time for us because my eldest girl just got a mobile phone and of course, Jacob was hinting for one of his own.

Of course, I said he had to wait until he was older {much to his disapproval!} but then we got this and not only is he happy but he feels like he can stay in the loop with family & friends from his own handheld smart device! Especially since we have family who lives across the water, so now Jacob can stay in touch.

The touch screen is very responsive and even though it can sense your fingertips it works much faster if you use the stylus provided. A spare one is also provided in the pack too which is always handy. The battery life is good and it’s something my son has got many hours of enjoyment from.

We love our Vtech DigiGo and they are available in DigiGo Blue and DigiGo Pink, and they RRP for £79.99.
