Photos of my travels to Orihuela, Spain

At the beginning of December {last year} one of my best friends and I took a very spontaneous trip to Orihuela, Spain. Our travels were for a multitude of reasons; she experienced a big life change and I had the opportunity to visit my Mummy’s grave. Turns out, her Mum has an apartment quite close to where my own Mum used to live before she died.

Both pretty grim things I’m sure you’ll agree but we turned our trip into one to remember. We reminisced, we drank, we visited my Mum, we drank some more, we laughed until we cried, we chilled, we nursed hangovers and basically had a bloody great time.

While we walked around the gorgeous City of Orihuela, I developed a serious door obsession! So many gloriously beautiful doors, in all shapes, sizes and designs. I couldn’t stop snapping!

When you decide to walk up one of the glorious mountainous hills to a monastery at the top; it was closed by the time we got up there, but check out that view!

Even their manholes are pretty! Such an Instagram-worthy feature, wouldn’t you agree?

The day we arrived we went straight to visit my Mum and if I’m honest…it was a pretty surreal experience. It’s also an insane distance for anyone to have to travel to be close to their Mum. I didn’t regret a moment of it though because that’s what I was there for. On December 4th {the day I visited} my Mum had been gone for 3yrs, and who knows why, but this visit was my first time going back since her funeral. Needless to say, I’ve yet to even process her death, but that story is for another time entirely.
