Skylanders Imaginators Review

Earlier on in the year, my two middle children and I made the trip over to London to attend the Skylanders Blogger event with Activision. It was so much fun making t-shirts, enjoying the candy mountain in the middle of the room, playing other Skylander games and being lucky enough to get a glimpse at the latest Skylanders game to hit the shelves; Skylanders Imaginators.

Jump forward six months and we were very kindly given a copy of Skylanders Imaginators to review and share with you guys. Now, you might be saying “Do we really need another Skylanders game?” well, hear me out a second. We have every single Skylanders game in the series and the reason I’ve kept buying them is because they can mostly be played on the next game. That’s what I love about this series of games. And the idea behind this new game that really sets it out from previous games in the series are the creation crystals; essentially giving you the power to create your own Skylander to play in the game.

Skylanders-Imaginators
By placing your Imaginator Crystal {or Creation crystal} onto the portal of power the game will launch a new character creation option where you are able to create literally every aspect of your hero. Like the Skylanders, the Imaginator crystals have an element, which in classic Skylander form, determines the kind of Skylander Imaginator that you can create. You can also pick a class i.e. Sorcerer, Brawler, Knight, Swashbuckler or any of the other six classes available to choose from.

My children really enjoyed making their own Skylander Imaginators and they loved being involved in every single tiny detail of their creation. Along with picking your armor and weapons you can also pick additional powers too before being cast into battle. Not everything is available though because the more of the game you play, the more power options you’ll find and unlock. But the whole idea surrounding the creation of your own Skylander is pretty high on the kid’s reasons for loving this game.

Another aspect of this game that the kids really enjoy is the ability to level up your champions beyond your creations. Like games, such as World of Warcraft & Diablo etc, the more your quest the more powerful you can become.

Skylanders Imaginators review

The gameplay {as always} is awesome, the graphics are on point as per usual and the storyline is also super fun. From destroying new fun enemies, solving 3D style puzzles, conquering mazes and destroying the scenery around you with cannons and wrecking balls, this game gets a massive thumbs up from us.
