A morning spent in London, with Skylanders

We were recently invited along to a super cool blogger event, in London, with Activision & Skylanders. My eldest daughter Ellie, and youngest son Jacob are HUGE Skylanders fans and when I told them they could come along too, well, you can just imagine the squeals of excitement.

With an eye twitching alarm going off at 0430hrs, we got ourselves, double checked we had everything we needed and once our taxi arrived, off we went. Thankfully, it being Spring/Summer it was already light {and warm} so the ride to the airport was a pleasant one. Plus, it was really nice listening to the kids chat about what they would see at the Skylanders blogger event.

Ellie has been to London with me before when she joined me last year for the Guinness World Records event at their HQ, so it was super lovely to have Jacob join us this time. I was also really excited to show him around the gorgeous city of London.

A short plane ride, followed by a direct train into the City, a short underground train {and then a taxi – haha!} we arrived at the Ace hotel, where the event was being held. We were greeted by the lovely Megan who I had been emailing for the last few weeks and she showed us where to go. Once off the elevator the kids were met by none other than Stealth Elf {which totally blew their minds} and a photo just had to be taken.

Look at their wee faces! I just love it. So once they had a quick chat & a photo moment with Stealth elf we looked at all of the tasty treats that the event holders kindly put on for us all.

But it wasn’t long before the kids walked into the event room and darted off to revel in the gaming atmosphere.

In the photo above, you’ll notice Jacob looking back and that’s because he just realised who he walked passed…

Now my Jacob loves his ice-cream, speaking of which, so does my Ellie. So naturally they walked back over to indulge. What kid wouldn’t!

The fun thing about this ice-cream though is that you had to guess the flavour combinations and my little Jacob just so happened to have quite the palette and smashed the flavours every time {he went back for ice-cream FOUR times!}.

After some ice-cream indulgence, the kids played some of the super fun Skylanders games that were available around the room.

Next up was a short talk and show ‘n’ tell moment of the brand new game that’s due for release this October called, Skylanders Imaginators. This game looks SUPER fun and the kids have already told me that it’s going onto their Christmas lists!

The new Skylanders Imaginators {due out October 2016} allows you to literally create your own Skylander to play in the game. WOW, right? Every aspect of your Skylander can be altered, from his ability {brawler, archer, magic etc}, to his size, voice, body aspects, you can add accessories and so much more. I was really impressed at how much detail you can go into when creating your own Skylander Imaginator character.

There was so much for the kids to do, from the ice-cream creation station to playing games, making your own Skylander t-shirts, having your caricature drawn {see below photo} and there was even a super fun photo booth.

Ellie, whilst at the event, made a brand new friend who is the daughter of a fellow blogger Family four fun. They instantly bonded and I found them exchanging contact details soon after and well, just look how cute they are!

Since meeting, both girls have been emailing back and forth and promised to write each other letters – SUPER cute.

So once the kids had eaten countless tasty ice-creams, indulged in yummy bags of assorted pick & mix sweets, made their own t-shirts, played games, had fun in the photo booth and more, it was time to go. The kids were handed these amazing goodie bags and before we knew it we were saying our goodbyes and heading out the doors.

We had the BEST time at this Skylanders blogger event, it was so much fun and there was so much to do that the kids didn’t know what to be up to at any given time. They came away with lots of super cool things, excited about the new Skylanders Imaginators being released this October and best of all, new friends.

A huge thank you to Activision and Skylanders for inviting us along and all we can say now is roll on October as we want to play this new game!

Disclosure: We were invited along to this event and our travel expenses were kindly covered to enable us to attend. All thoughts, photos and opinions are all my own.

Awwww, it was a lovely event and it was great to see you again. I can’t believe you only had to get up 30 minutes before me to travel all that extra way though! We were out of the house by 6am to get there from Manchester 😀
