Planning a Minecraft Sleepover Party – Decoration ideas!

My kids are Minecraft mental, and if I’m truly honest with you I think that’s putting it lightly with a side order of understatement. So when I asked Ellie what she’d like to do for her 10th birthday in June I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised when she asked for a Minecraft themed Sleepover party.

With 2 months to go I needed to get planning because its not like you can walk into a party store and pick up a selection of minecraft related birthday products. Oh no, with minecraft you need to print off labels, make creeper faces, spiders on your ceiling and even enderman cake pops! Full on craft preparation is required and I had a feeling I was already behind on time. So I took to the one place I knew wouldn’t let me down {idea wise}….Pinterest.

So first things first…decorations!

Once I saw these fabulous Minecraft rule print outs I knew I had to rustle up some of my own. Great fun to have sprinkled over the walls I think. However if I thought the prints outs where a must I got so excited when I saw the minecraft ‘glass’ window idea. If you play minecraft you’ll get it. Such a GREAT IDEA people and I cannot wait to do this to our windows {masking tape will be grand} – the kids will have meltdowns!

Again if you play the game you’ll get the Nether portal door decoration. This is such a fun idea and will give the kids a real feel to being in the pixelated world of Minecraft. The creeper hanging decoration will be fun to make up, something I’m sure my daughter will love to help with. However whether it will just be a hanging piece or a pinata is yet to be decided! Knowing my daughter, she’ll request a pinata!
The creeper door is my favorite! I think I’ll do this to the front door as you walk in. Might as well start off the Minecraft experience as soon as they walk up & through the front door, right?

Balloons! You can never have a party without balloons, it’s like the law in party land! So getting some black & green balloons and adding some creeper faces with a sharpie pen will go down well. Also these painted canvas decorations are great fun! Canvas can be picked up so cheaply and I’m sure they can be done as you watch your trash TV in the evenings with the kids in bed.

So there you go, a few decoration ideas that I found over Pinterest and I cannot wait to get started! Next week I’ll share what food I’ll be serving up to my little minecraft party fans!

Looks to me like it will be an epic sleepover! My kids had a minecraft phase, and I do think they still play a bit but not to the levels of many any more.
