No Technology day!

Everyday without fail I notice a pattern with my children. They’ll jump from Xbox to PC, PC to iPad and even iPad to my phone {what is it with kids and your phone?} and it’s come to the point that I can feel myself wanting to scream…

It’s actually driving me INSANE and I don’t think I can stress that enough. So their worst nightmares are coming true and the digital babysitters are going AWAY! Even saying that ‘No technology day’ I can feel my chest easing up to let me breathe a little easier.

The kids are going to have a full on music only on in the background kind of day. We’ll play board games, learn a new skill, hang out as a family and you know…actually acknowledge each others existence rather than constructing
This Mama has cracked under the weight of digital need of her children. We never had any of this in my day so I reckon. We never had any of this in my day so I reckon it’s about time this Mum showed them how she used to play back in the age of no technology and we had to use our imaginations.

The kids aren’t going to like it, but do you know what? They can bloody lump it!

Do you have any NO TECHNOLOGY DAYS in your house?

We’ve never had one but I think we will start to do it once the girls are older.
They get the iPad if they have behaved all day or all week. Otherwise they watch TV sometimes or they just play with their toys in the playroom so I’m quite lucky I think!

I often throw this at my boys, especially after they take it all for granted. They come in from school and expect to be able to play straight away. Even to the point that my eldest had started leaving homework at school so he could just play instead! Well that stopped, I can tell you! This is a great way to reconnect with your children and once they’re outside they do actually enjoy it (of course they would never admit that!). Great post.
