One day this week Annabelle & I had arranged to do a little soft play morning and as we were getting ready I turned to see this adorable little sight. My very own Little Miss Belle attempting to put on her very own shoes.
I acted almost like I was creeping up to a rare species of animal that I was afraid to distract and for it to run away….so I hunched down very quietly and got out my phone and was able to just sit, watch and marvel at her determination to crack this putting-on-her-own-shoes malarkey.
She carried on placing a shoe on one foot, letting it dangle there, reaching for her other shoe, for the one she put on to fall off…and she’d just repeat. All the while I could do nothing but sit in absolute wonder and joy at my baby girl trying to conquer this bit of independence for herself.
She did however finally give up the ghost and ask me for help which I was right there by her side to do. I loved how she tried, and how long she tried for and more importantly that when she struggled, she asked for help.
