Celebrating Mr Men’s 45th Anniversary

Ever since I was little Mr Men books have always been a firm favourite. They are colourful, fun and I love that they are still loved today. According to research, 66% of Brits have passed on their love of Mr. Men down to their children and I am proud to say that I was one of them. Mr. Tickle, Mr. Bump, and Miss Chatterbox are just three of the many much-loved characters that my children adore.

Mr. Men are celebrating their 45th birthday with the launch of a new virtual archive and first ever mini museum for children. Did you know that a staggering 354m books are on the bookshelves of children around the UK – That’s a lot of books!

It’s also crazy to think that these Mr.Men books were initially rejected by every major publishing firm in the UK. Whereas now, in the Roger Hargreaves series has sold over 250m worldwide, in 17 different languages. Wow!

When it comes to the many much-loved characters in these adorable books it was no surprise that Mr.Happy was voted the UK’s favourite with 18%, Mr.Tickle with 14% & Little Miss.Sunshine with 7%.

I think it’s lovely that Mr.Man is still a much-loved part of children’s {and adults} reading time. Even after 45yrs! Therefore, the launch of this new mini-museum means that the Mr.Men {and Miss.} can carry on being amazing through the minds of our children for another 45yrs.

The Mr.Men & Little Miss. Mini Museum will be open Wednesday 24th August and Monday 29th August 2016. The exhibition will take place at the Gallery@OXO, situated on the ground floor of OXO Tower on Londons South Bank.
