Spending time together as a family is so important and it’s something that we’re guilty of not doing enough. So, when I saw a bucket list idea over on What the Redhead Said blog, I knew we had to join in & make a family bucket list of our own.

Every year we have this habit of making plans together and 9 times out of 10 they fall through. Life gets in the way or money will be short. This year, however, that will not happen! Because I plan to do as much, if not all of these amazing, fun {some on a budget, other’s we’ll save for} things on our list throughout the year.

With the shift arrival of 2017, I bring my determined mind to get involved with lots of blog-related things. Things I joined in with last year but faded mid-way through the year. Bad me, I know! But that revelation aside here is my first #LittleLoves post of 2017! This week has seen my kids all go back to school {much to their dismay!} and the birthday preparations have begun for my littlest girl.

Having the children all back to school comes with mixed emotions. On one level I’m sad because I’ve loved having my team at home {the lie-ins were also appealing} and on the other hand, I’m so very happy. I’m a creature that requires routine and having the kids back to school gives me just that.

I’m just going to dive right in and say that I’m not normally a new year resolutions sort of gal. Because, if we’re all completely honest here, how long do we actually keep them up for? Honestly! I know I’ve started health plans or life goals in the past and they’ve never seen March nevermind the end of the year! So this year, for starters, I’m going to be a realist. I’m going to set myself perfectly doable and easy-to-stick-to plans and I’ll cross everything that I can see them through.

I hope to be able to organise and stay on top of two things; My home & my blog. Both are a disorganised, dysfunctional mess and quite frankly, both have this knack of making me want to scream at the top of my lungs when times get a little tough. However, with the help of my new daily planner; sprinkled with a touch of optimism {& a dash of positivity}, I plan to make it…work!

Guys…Welcome back the first #DevelopingLife round-up of 2017 and what a way to start off a brand new year! However, before I start sharing with you some of my favourites from the final week in 2016, I have some news! My little Developing Life IG community isn’t so little anymore and I am going to start off by shouting, so please excuse me! WE’VE REACHED 10,000 PHOTOS!

This year, 2016, has gone by in the flashiest of flashes. Hasn’t it? I can’t believe that as of tomorrow, we’ll be writing 2017; I mean, am I the only one whose not processed that yet? Also, has anyone else seen the Easter egg displays in their local stores? Give us a chance guys! We’ve just put down our Christmas trees, polished off the New Years Eve party hats and you’re already throwing Easter eggs under our noses!

However, Easter aside, because, who even wants to think about chocolate eggs just yet {hands up who has a mountain of selection boxes to consume first!}; 2016, for us, has been a bit fabulous. We’ve had day trips to London, I’ve attended some amazing blogger events, we went on a family holiday to Haven in Somerset, and I even went on a cheeky girlie trip to Spain with one of my best friends. We’ve celebrated birthdays, mourned the loss of a loved one, had big adjustments such as leaving Primary school to attend Secondary school, or starting Preschool for the very first time! 2016 has been a pretty big year all round because the darling man and I even got hitched back in September! To think on New Years Day we’ll have been Husband and Wife for four whole months, is insane.

Last month I shared my September blog goals and shared the news that I reached 4k followers on my Instagram. That was all amazing & super exciting. However, it’s no longer September, but October {how scary is that!} and I thought I’d share a few goals that I have set for myself over the next five weeks.

Protecting my children’s skin is one of my top priorities when the sun decides to come out to play, {up there with keeping them hydrated, of course}. Tots 100 have teamed up with Garnier for their Sun cream campaign and they have some pretty cool sun cream products that I had personally never heard of before, so I’m going to share them with you guys.

Now before you get all judgy, I know it’s almost October and the sun coming out to play around this time of year can be pretty slim. However, here in Northern Ireland, June, July & August can be pretty gloomy months for us and surprisingly {and unbeknown to me as to why} September & October can be quite lovely for us, weather-wise…..sometimes. Plus, there have been quite a few families that I’ve seen on my social media feeds jetting off to a cheeky little sun, sea and sand holiday before the most festive time of the year pays us a visit. I’m not jealous at all. I promise, {I’m totally lying!}.

So, joining in with Tots 100 and Garnier’s sun cream campaign I’m going to share two product with you guys, firstly I’m going to talk about their wet skin lotion. The Garnier Ambre Solaire Wet skin lotion, unlike a lot of other sun cream lotions out there, can be applied to your child’s skin even when wet. Other sun cream products have been known to provide less protection when applied to wet skin so Garnier has created this unique lotion that allows you to apply it to your child’s skin fresh from the pool whilst still providing a high level of sun protection.

The second product I’m going to share with you guys {and quite personally I think it’s a genius idea!} is the Garnier Ambre Solaire Anti-sand spray SPF50.
garnier-ambre-solaire-kids-anti-sand-spray-spf50-hrI just love the idea of this product because let’s face it, we’ve all been there, haven’t we! On the beach, sun beating down, a wet child coming out of the water onto the sand and trying to get the sand off the limbs of a child can be a stressful job {and quite painful too – do you remember the days your parents tried to wipe the sand off your legs and toes? I do!!}. So, for Garnier to create this super cool sand repelling {whilst providing sun protection} product is pretty cool in my book.

I know which two products I’ll be making sure are in our travel cases on our next sun-fueled day trip or family holiday!

Disclosure: I was compensated for my time for writing up this post by Tots100 and it’s a collaboration with Garnier’s Sun cream campaign.

My blog seems to have got a little lost by the wayside lately what with me getting married and trying to get back into the routine of school life and after school activities. But we’re getting there and the more progress I make in getting things organised, the more focused I seem to become about everything I’d like to achieve with my blog.

If I’m honest, I wasn’t planning on going to this years Britmums Live, due to the change in dynamics. In others words, a two-day event morphing into one. It’s a big shift and I wasn’t entirely convinced that it would work. However, I was in a conundrum. This would be my 3rd year attending the event and I didn’t want to miss it in case my assumptions were wrong. What if the new dynamic worked a charm and I missed out on it? So, I was super lucky enough to get myself a sponsor, Supacell LED and it looked as though I was attending BML’16 after all.

Getting there this year was pretty crazy; from the broken down Gatwick Express to the Circle line being suspended due to engineering work. It was a pretty stressful journey and more so because I was doing it solo this year. Eeek. I’ve never been an anxious person, or at least I don’t think I have. But anxiety struck me when I finally found the venue {after getting a little lost, typical me!} and proceeded to walk through those all too familiar doors of The Brewery.

Britmums LIve 2016

The first people I saw was the lovely Katie from Mummy Daddy Me, who gave me a hug and I got to see her beautiful newborn baby boy, as well as saying hello to the lovely Alex from Bump to Baby. I did the usual putting my backpack into the cloakroom and got my name tag for the day.

Britmums LIve 2016
I’m not ashamed to admit that I felt out of place. Like, really out of place, which is very unlike me. It even got to the stage that after I walked into the big room full of bloggers and brands, that I immediately wanted to walk out into the courtyard. It was a good job that I did because I bumped into Martyn from Martyns Thoughts and the lovely Carla. I sort of made them adopt me for a while after that point. {Thanks for that guys! 😉 }

Britmums Live 2016
I attended a few workshops & panel talks, none of which {I’m sad to say} particularly inspired me. Which is a huge shame because it was the learning and workshops from previous Britmums Live conferences that I really looked forward too.

The feeling in the air at this years BML’16 was a weird one. It didn’t feel quite right to me, in fact, a lot of aspects of it just felt ‘filled in’ if that makes sense. None of the brands particularly stood out for me, the Bollox brand, albeit a great one, and one that I will happily support. However the half naked oily man was a bit unnecessary I think. Or was that just me?

This year’s BML’16 seemed to develop into a more social event rather than a learning one. A shift that I wasn’t expecting but it’s a shift I also welcomed too.

I loved seeing some gorgeous familiar faces during the event {you know who you are!} and I also got to hang out with some super fun people at a dinner in Nandos that ended in some hotel bar drinks! They made me feel really, really welcome, so a massive thanks should go out to Martyn for organising that and it was an absolute pleasure to hang out with everyone who went.

Will I go next year? I’m unsure yet! I’d like to think I would just to see everyone, however between now and them I do hope the dynamics of BML changes because this year? The feeling of inspiration just wasn’t there for me personally and I am ashamed at the amount of photos I took when I compare it to previous years! But hey ho…

Until next time…

OMG, it’s Britmums Live ’16 tomorrow! Excuse me while I let out a squeal – Eeeek! Up until this point, I was pretty nervous about going this weekend, not thinking that this will be my third year attending this fun & fabulous blogging conference.

My.third.year.going.

Excuse me while I think about that for a second…

Wow….That’s pretty crazy!

*breathes out* So ok….year three and the top 3 things I am looking forward too {if I’m honest} is seeing the faces of my blogging pals, being able to have some ‘Debs time’ because I’m always in Mama mode and being able to relax for a day will be gloriously appreciated. However, I am still excited about attending a few workshops, chatting with brands and just getting involved in everything BML 16′ has to offer. SO I thought I’d share with you guys what I’ll have in my bag for the event and what I will be wearing.

I’ll also share what BML ’16 goals I have too….I’ll need your luck for those! 😉

Here’s what will be in my bag…

Britmums LIve 2016

My bag {OBviously!}, deodorant, my trusty River song Tardis book, a pen, my super cool MPOW iSnap selfie stick, Mpow camera lens, my passport & travel documents, my purse {handy!}, malteasers {erm, best snack choice EVER!}, my portable charger, glasses and an extra phone battery.

Here’s what I will be wearing for the event…{this is subject to change! I am a woman after all!}

Britmums Live 2016

I am meant to be wearing a t-shirt from my sponsor Supacell LED, however, it’s a bit ‘sharp’ on the front due to the light up panel, so I will have that customised onto a tote bag for the event!

And as for those goals I mentioned above…I hope to video my experience to make a vlog when I get home. I have wanted to do it year after year and I’ve always failed. So this year I hope it all goes a bit differently. I want to be creative with it and fun so please send me luck that I can actually remember to video snippets from my day from start to finish. I had best get my dropbox account sorted for that! 😛

You can check out my BML ’16 Sponsor introduction post here.

So anyways…SEE YOU TOMORROW at Britmums Live 2016! Woohoo!

This June will see me attend Britmums Live 2016 for the third year running! To think I was so nervous about attending and having my first Britmums Live experience and that now being 3yrs ago is crazy! With every year that I have attended Britmums Live, I’ve met new friends, seen familiar faces, learned new things, been inspired, reduced to tears and rubbed shoulders and spoke to some ahh-mazing people & brands. I’ve even taken part in achieving a Guinness World record, you can read about that here.

I know there have been a few changes, the biggest one being that it’s no longer a 2-day event, but it’s all being bundled into one single day. Which, I personally think is a little crazy, but, you know, I think it’ll be a great event {as per!} regardless of the length of it. However, I am curious to see how it will go following the change and how we’ll all cram in the meet ‘n’ greets, chatting to brands, workshops and more into this one single day.
