September blog goals and reaching 4k on my Instagram!

My blog seems to have got a little lost by the wayside lately what with me getting married and trying to get back into the routine of school life and after school activities. But we’re getting there and the more progress I make in getting things organised, the more focused I seem to become about everything I’d like to achieve with my blog.

I think a fun way to go about it all is to set yourself goals. Whether they be daily, weekly or monthly you’re giving yourself a target to reach. For September and because life has been pretty crazy I gave myself one single goal to achieve and that was to reach 4k followers on my Instagram.

I’m excited to share the news that I did it on the 15th! Halfway through the month I achieved my only monthly goal and I am positively thrilled. Instagram is by far, my most loved social media platform and I’m over the moon that she is growing. If I’m completely honest, I’d like it to grow a little quicker so I guess that will be my next goal. Regarding Instagram, I have been researching the right and relevant hashtags to use and in doing so they have doubled the amount of likes each of my photos receive. Before using the recent hashtags I would get {on average} 30-40 likes and now I’m reaching 90 and even 100+ likes. So a little research can go a long way. I shared a post recently called Hashtags to use for Instagram, so if you need a little inspiration, pop over and give it a wee read. Or if you have any hashtags that I didn’t mention in my post that you use, do leave a wee comment to let us know. We’d love to hear them!

Now, for my blog goals. My blog feels so misshapen and disorganised at the moment, so for September I’ve given myself three goals to set in motion or to at least make them into a habit.

Schedule posts. This is something I felt like I’ve not done in forever! Being ahead always relaxes you, makes you feel like you’re in control and everything is right with the world. So I’m going to make sure I try {for starters} to schedule two posts per week and any other posts I share will more than likely be the usual type-up-in-a-hurry and hit the publish button. Gotta love those deadlines!

Fall back in love with photography. It breaks my heart a little to admit that I’ve fallen out of love with taking photos lately. My DSLR is just too heavy to lug around everywhere {especially with 3 kids in tow} and as handy as my cameraphone is, the photos just aren’t up to the standard that I’d like to share on my blog. So I’ve invested in a super cute {and super dinky} Nikon Coolpix S600 with a flip screen {handy for vlogging & taking selfies!} – thanks for the camera recommendation Colette from Going on an Adventure! So, I’m excited to get out & about with my newest addition and snapping up some lovely autumnal moments to share on my blog over the next few weeks.

Comment on other people blogs. This is my biggest crime and admitting that on my blog here and now, isn’t the first time either! So I’m giving myself a daily goal throughout the rest of September to comment on 5 blogs each evening. Obviously, this will go up over time {if I can stick to it} and hopefully it will be one of those things that forms into a great habit to do each evening. There is so much great content out there and I’m missing out!

I think those 3 goals are a great place to start. They’re simple, no pressure and I hope by the end of September they’ll evolve into something I make the time for naturally. But for now….I’m happy that I have a plan in action and goals to set.

D xx

that is amazing! I love instagram but find it an incredible chore to build up the numbers! its much easier on twitter, I’ll have a look at your hashtag post!

Thanks. It can be difficult, but totally worth it. I find it effortless on Twitter too. Facebook I find to be the hardest to build up followers.

I seem to have the commenting on other peoples blogs down to a tee, I probably spend about an hour each day doing exactly that but the instagram and the twitter and all the big things which I need to up my stats on I have no idea how to increase or improve!

I am envious! I think keeping up with it ALL it so time consuming {isn’t it}. I like to spend a little bit of time on each everyday – or at least, I’m trying to get into the habit of doing so!
