Black for a Bridesmaid dress?

As you all know, I’m getting wed next year {OMG!} and the organising is close to starting but my ideas and inspirations are in full swing. I have loads of ideas from everything to the food I’d love to have on the menu, to the little gifts for the groomsmen, what my flowergirls and Bridesmaids will be wearing…and more.

In fact, speaking of my Bridesmaids I’m not one for sticking with tradition and our wedding will be so far away from ‘tradition’ that it excites me. I have three gorgeous Bridesmaids, and they all have their own style that I, as the Bride, am trying to help them achieve. I’m no Bridezilla, but as long as my Bridesmaids look fabulous {which, they’d look good in a burlap sack truth be told!} and feel comfortable, then we’re all good.

However feast your eyes on these gorgeous dresses! Not the usual choice of style and colour of a Bridesmaids dress I know, but I am so one for throwing out what is meant to be normal for a wedding a embracing a new angle!

Even though Black & navy isn’t in my own colour scheme {it’s more blush pinks, purples and grey} but that far navy & black dress with the lace sleeves is so utterly dreamy I can’t even tell you. I love how these styles and colours of dresses can be considered eligible for Weddings nowadays! Whereas way back when {even nowadays for some people} Bridesmaid dresses had to look a certain way.

I say screw that!

I absolutely love something a little different. Something to add a bit of style and elegance to the day that goes beyond the Bride. A sprinkle of true uniqueness can give your day a true WOW factor, and I think having an unusual Bridesmaid dress choice would certainly add to making your day POP!

My choices of Bridesmaid dresses aren’t like anything in the images above, although if my mind wasn’t already made up I’d be changing it! However we’re having a Country fete, more rustic style Wedding day so it’s tea lengths all round for my gorgeous ladies! In a sprinkle of greys, purples & blush pinks! A big thanks for Coast doing this great research into unusual Bridesmaid dresses.

When you got married/or if your planning your own big day, what style of Bridesmaid dress did you go for/plan to go for?. Or do you think the darker colours are to dreary for a Wedding?

Our wedding will be next summer so for that reason I want something bright. It’s going to be pastels

Darker colours make sense for a winter wedding for example like a darker red or deep purple maybe. We had lilac then again we got married in May.

If we did it again I quite like the idea of 1950s style tea dresses in different colours. Maybe all different shades of one colour.

My bridesmaids dresses will be black. I’ll be having a very small but rockabilly/ vintage style wedding and have always known I’d go for black. I did joke that I would wear black myself, in my younger days but have changed my mind on that now.
The day is all about what the couple want, who cares if dark colours are deemed as drab by some 🙂
