Being Mrs Butler {& adjusting to my new name!}

I got married…*thinks*, gosh, over two months ago now {which is insane} and my new surname still throws me off. Every time I phone for a taxi I’ll say my maiden name rather than Butler and even when I see my new surname on my Facebook I think for a SECOND; “Who is that?”. Without fail, every time!

It’s so difficult to get used to if I’m honest and even on the run up to our Wedding I was still unsure if I was even going to have it or not. The new surname, not the Wedding!

I had a lot of questions swirling around in my head prior to our Wedding; Did I want a new surname? Would we both go double barrel perhaps? Or would it be OK if I just stayed with the name I already had? My husband-to-be was so amazing and was perfectly fine with me doing whatever I felt I wanted to do. In his eyes, it was 100% my decision and he wouldn’t be offended or upset with me whatever I decided because he was marrying me and that was his goal. At the end of the day, it’s just a name. Isn’t he sweet?

But with all of those questions, thoughts and conundrums, clearly, I took his name at the end of the day; even if it is difficult to get used too. Also, looking back on our wedding day it’s crazy to not only how fast the day went by but how long it’s been since we made our vows. I take moments to try to remember little snippets and it’s nice because they make me smile.

Being Mrs Butler

I remember how stressful the lead up to the wedding was, from my wedding dress disaster to sharing a post about the stresses of planning your own wedding.  Even the morning & afternoon leading up to the ceremony itself was pretty crazy; from having to finish making our own wedding cake {call me crazy!} to having to add finishing touches up at the venue itself. In between all of that was school runs, first days of brand new school journeys for my girls and all round craziness. I swear a blinked and before I knew it I was walking up the aisle.

But that day was magical and even though it wasn’t without its faults {we’re talking about forgetting to pin the groomsmen flowers on & my C.A.K.E letter balloons having holes in them; so nothing major!} we had the most amazing day and both wish we could do it all over again. I shared our We got hitched post if you fancy a look!

Would you do your Wedding all over again if you could?
