Back to School with Debenhams

The summer holidays are swiftly coming to a close and the children will soon be starting a new school year. It seems like yesterday the children broke off for summer when we had hopes and dreams for weeks to come. Of places, we would go and the fun we would have. Now it’s time for that to end and for learning and education to take a firm place in their lives once again.

My eldest daughter will be starting Year 8 this year. Her first experience of High School and she’s pretty anxious about it. We recently bought her the uniform she would need and seeing her wearing a blazer was quite emotional. She looked so grown up, almost like she was no longer the little girl in Primary school, but this young woman starting High school.

If there is one thing I look out for when shopping for a school uniform, it is smart footwear. Kindly, Debenhams got in touch and offered Ellie the opportunity to review their footwear in their Back to School range. When we got there if I am honest, there weren’t many styles available in her size. However, that could have been a combination of us going shoe shopping in the second week of August or just the store we went too, which was our local one in Belfast being low in stock.

The styles available ranged from strapless dolly shoes to ones with a strap and also brogue style footwear. There were lots to choose from but not very many available to fit her size five feet. Luckily, though, she managed to find the last remaining pair of brogues in her size and she really liked them. They fit her beautifully so we took them straight to the counter to buy them.

The black patent brogues {RRP £20-£26} that Ellie chose felt very durable and according to her, were very comfortable. Two main points that I as a parent, look for when choosing footwear for my children. Finally, when combined with the rest of her uniform made the perfect finishing touch to make her look smart and so ready for her first day of High school.
